Support
Install Nightjar, get the first job running, or send a concise bug report. Support is available by email.
Install with Homebrew
brew install --cask piyushpradhan/nightjar/nightjar
Nightjar supports Apple-silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later.
Install the direct DMG
- Download the latest DMG and drag Nightjar into Applications.
- On first launch, right-click Nightjar in Applications and choose Open.
- Confirm Open in the macOS dialog. This extra step is required because the direct build is not Apple-notarized.
First job checklist
- Create an automation from a preset or paste your command in the advanced editor.
- Use an absolute working directory and explicit paths when a command behaves differently outside Terminal.
- Click Run now once and inspect stdout, stderr, exit code, and duration.
- Keep the Mac awake for local execution. After activation, enable the optional email watchdog if you also want a message when a deadline is missed.
Common fixes
- Works in Terminal but not Nightjar: check PATH, the working directory, environment variables, shell syntax, and file permissions.
- Protected folders fail: open Nightjar Settings → File access → Open Full Disk Access.
- A job was missed: the Mac was asleep, powered off, or Nightjar was not running at the scheduled time.
- Email alerts are pending: open the verification email, then return to Settings and check status.
- An update is available: click the update button in the sidebar; Nightjar verifies, downloads, installs, and relaunches.
- The trial ended: buy once, then paste the license key from the Dodo receipt into Settings.
Refunds
Nightjar has a 30-day, no-questions refund policy. Email hi@piyushpradhan.com from the address used for purchase and include the Dodo order reference. Do not include your full payment details or license key.
Reporting a bug
Include the Nightjar version shown in Settings, your macOS version, what you expected, what happened, and the shortest steps that reproduce it. Redact client names, paths, credentials, commands, and output unless they are essential and safe to share.
