Product terms
Terms
These terms cover the Nightjar macOS application, website, trial, license, and optional email-watchdog service.
Last updated: 5 August 2026
Using Nightjar
By installing, buying, or using Nightjar, you agree to these terms. You must be able to enter a binding agreement where you live and use Nightjar only in accordance with applicable law.
Trial and license
The 14-day trial unlocks the complete local app. The optional email watchdog requires an activated license. After the trial, Nightjar becomes read-only until activated. A $19 one-time license permits one person to use Nightjar on every Mac they personally use and includes updates to the current major version. The license is personal, revocable, non-exclusive, and non-transferable. You may not resell, sublicense, redistribute, or attempt to defeat license controls, except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise.
Payments and refunds
Dodo Payments is the Merchant of Record and handles checkout, tax, receipts, and payment processing. If Nightjar is not right for you, request a refund within 30 days of purchase by emailing hi@piyushpradhan.com from the purchase email and include the order reference. Refunds return through the original payment method and may take time to appear.
Your jobs and data
You control the commands Nightjar runs. Commands can modify or delete files, access credentials, or cause other damage. Review commands before saving them, use least-privilege credentials, keep independent backups, and test important jobs. Nightjar is not a backup service and does not verify the correctness of your scripts or their output.
Scheduling limitations
Local jobs require the Mac to be powered on and Nightjar’s background agent to be running. macOS sleep, shutdown, permissions, network outages, storage failures, third-party changes, and malformed commands can prevent or delay work. The optional watchdog can report a missing deadline but cannot wake the Mac or run the command remotely.
Optional services
Email monitoring and anonymous diagnostics are optional. Cloud monitoring depends on third-party hosting, email delivery, network access, and a valid license. These services may be changed, interrupted, rate-limited, or discontinued. Nightjar will make reasonable efforts to operate them reliably but does not promise uninterrupted delivery or that every incident will be detected.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains what stays local, what optional features send, and the service providers involved.
Updates and support
Updates may add, change, or remove features to improve reliability, security, or compatibility. Support is provided on a reasonable-efforts basis through the support page and email. No particular response or resolution time is guaranteed.
No warranties
To the extent permitted by law, Nightjar is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, or error-free results. Consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded remain unaffected.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Nightjar and its maker will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, including lost data, profits, revenue, or business interruption. Total liability arising from Nightjar will not exceed the amount you paid for the product. These limits do not apply where the law does not permit them.
Ending use and changes
You may stop using Nightjar at any time. A license may be revoked for fraud, abuse, or material violation of these terms. Material updates to these terms will be posted here with a new effective date; continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
